LANGS BEACH - SURF BEACH



Langs Beach is a surf beach and is situated just 7 minutes drive north east of Mangawhai and 90 minutes North East from the Harbour Bridge in Auckland.

There are not many places around like it where you can park your car at the side of the pohutukawa lined road and step onto the white sand beach. It is a very family friendly beach and it is generally not very busy as not many people know it even exists and that’s the way the locals like it. If you have a 4wd vehicle or a tractor you can launch your boat straight off the beach in the sheltered bay area.

There are changing sheds and toilets in the car park area at the Southern end of the beach (towards Lang Cove).

Ding Bay is part of the main Langs Beach, but unless you walk around the rocks at low tide or down the stairs from Cove Road you wouldn’t even know that this little Bay existed. When the surfs up however it can get very busy.

WAIPU COVE - SURF BEACH



Waipu Cove is just a short 3 – 4 minute drive over the hill from Langs Beach or approximately a 6 minute drive from Waipu township. This white sand beach stretches for miles and is the home, in parts, to some protected bird species such as the Fairy Turns. This beach is a great surf beach and during the summer periods it does have a surf patrol. The local camping ground backs onto the beach. There are changing sheds & toilets in the fabulous grass reserve area.

It isn’t that unexpected to see the dolphins or orca’s playing up and down these beaches.
